    It is hard to find anyone in India who is not accustomed to the term rice. Though considered as the staple food of India, rice is famous all over the world especially if you had managed to travel to Japan and China then you must have noticed the popularity of rice.

    In India, rice is considered as the main dish which is accompanied with other side dishes that may contain vegetarian food or something fleshy. Plain long grain rice is good to eat but nowadays many items made with rice are also becoming very popular. Fried rice, lemon rice, curd rice, biryani are some recipes that had stolen the heart of many Indian as well as the foreigners. Some do also do not like to accompany these foods with any other side dishes whereas when accompanied, enriches the taste buds. If you had visited any Indian office, then you can find these dishes present in one of the 20 tiffins.

    Rice can be cooked only with water and eat (after draining the water); mixed with vegetables or prawns or chicken to make something tasty; even in the South India rice is used to cook the tasty dosas, Idlis and uttapams. Nearly every house in India is aware of these dishes and cooked often.

    Here I am sharing one of the long grain rice recipes that I found to be uncommon and tasty;

    Ingredients:-

    Long grain rice – ¾ cup

    Water – 1 ½ cups

    Salt – ¼ Tsp

    Whole milk – 4 cups

    Sugar – ½ cup

    Vanilla – ½ Tsp

    Cinnamon – a pinch

    Procedure:-

    Wash the rice and place a bowl on the gas stove. Heat rice, salt and water and cover with a lid for nearly 15 minutes till the water gets dried up. Put milk and sugar in the same bowl and stir so that no lump forms. Do not cover the bowl. Heat the bowl for 30-40 minutes. Stir and once the milk and rice have combined into a thick mixture; put it on the gas stove. Pour the vanilla and cinnamon and mix well. Cover with a plastic wrap and refrigerate it.

    Once cool, your rice pudding is ready to eat with friends and family.
